Junabhadra College, located in Bitana, Jajpur, Odisha, was established in the year 1981 as a non-government, degree-granting institution. The college derives its name from the nearby Junabhadra River, a geographical feature of both cultural and historical significance to the region.

At its inception, Junabhadra College functioned as a co-educational institution offering courses in the Arts stream at the intermediate level under the affiliation of Utkal University. Initially, academic activities were conducted within the premises of B.B. High School, Pritipur. The college commenced with a modest faculty strength of eight teaching members and an intake capacity of 128 students.
